By implementing a streamlined 3D capture and AI reconstruction workflow, Rimowa was able to fully digitize its unique, refurbished luggage batches, ensuring each one-of-a-kind piece was ready for sale on their global eCommerce platform with unprecedented speed.

The RE-CRAFTED initiative is a key pillar of Rimowa’s commitment to circularity, where pre-owned suitcases are returned, meticulously refurbished, and resold. Because every piece is unique, traditional photography was a significant logistical and financial bottleneck. Leveraging only a smartphone and the Solaya app, Rimowa’s teams captured products directly in their facilities, enabling a rapid, high-fidelity digitization process that bypassed the need for high-cost studio sessions or specialized scanning hardware.

The captured data was processed through Solaya’s proprietary AI pipeline, producing ultra-high-fidelity 3D models and 2D pack shots for each suitcase. These assets allowed Rimowa to offer an immersive digital experience, where online shoppers could examine the specific character and craftsmanship of each individual RE-CRAFTED item in less than an hour after the initial scan.

This collaboration demonstrated how Solaya’s technology can significantly drive efficiency and cost savings for high-volume, unique inventory.
